Welcome to Viscaya-Prado Veterinary Hospital, your local veterinarians in Cape Coral, FL.

We are a full-service veterinary hospital that treats dogs, cats, reptiles & exotics for the residents and visitors of Southwest Florida including Cape Coral, Fort Myers, Lehigh Acres, Estero, Fort Myers Beach & Sanibel Island.

Dr. Milton McKelvie and the doctors of Viscaya-Prado Vet Hospital have been working to keep your pets healthy and happy ever since the clinic was founded in 1977.

Our mission is to provide you and your pets with service of the highest quality, keeping your companions healthy and giving you peace of mind.

Dr. Milton McKelvie, DVM

Dr. McKelvie is a 1983 graduate of the University of Florida. In 1985 Dr McKelvie purchased the Viscaya-Prado Veterinary Hospital.

Hobbies: Sports, Working-Out, traveling with wife, spending time with family and Gardening.

Dr. William K. Kroll, DVM

Dr. Kroll is a 1983 graduate of the University of Florida. Dr. Kroll started working at Viscaya-Prado Veterinary Hospital in 1988.

Hobbies: Tennis, Bowling, Farming, Scuba Diving, Theatrical Arts, and Reading

Dr. Christopher Melloh, DVM

Dr. Melloh is a 1995 graduate of Purdue University. Dr. Melloh started working at Viscaya-Prado Veterinary Hospital in 2002.

Hobbies: Hiking, Biking, Running, kayaking, and Spending time with wife (Crispin) and two boys.

Dr. Lisa Monte

Dr. Lisa Monte received her Bachelor’s of Science from Virginia Tech.

In 1996, she received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital in 1997. She also received a Master of Science in Immunology from Virginia Tech in 1995.

Dr. Cindy Ziemba, DVM

Dr. Ziemba is a 2004 graduate of the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, she returned to her home state of New Jersey to practice for several years before moving to Southwest Florida. She has been with the Viscaya-Prado Veterinary Hospital since relocating to the area in 2009.

Hobbies: Playing Piano, Boating, and Playing Golf w/Husband

Dr. Scott Cornwell

Dr Cornwell is a graduate of the University of Florida. Dr Cornwell began working for Viscaya-Prado Veterinary Hospital in 2011.

Hobbies: Sailing, Flying, Motorcycle Riding, and Classic Cars

Dr. Mason Freed

Dr. Mason Freed has his undergraduate and masters degree from University of Maryland and his DVM from Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine @ Virginia Tech. He was born and raised in Baltimore. He and his wife, Kamaili, a school psychologist, recently moved to Cape Coral with their three sons. Dr. Freed had been in practice for several years in the Baltimore area prior to the moving to Florida. He enjoys scuba diving, biking, playing drums and spending time with his family.

Dr. Meghan Schuman

Dr. Meghan Schuman grew up in Cape Coral and graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Florida Gulf Coast University before moving across the country to complete her doctorate of veterinary medicine at Western University of Health Sciences in southern California. After graduation she returned to her home town to work alongside the doctors who helped shape her into the veterinarian she is today. She recently completed her certification in veterinary medical acupuncture and is now offering these services to small and large animals of SWFL including dogs, cats, exotics, horses and more! Dr. Juanita Monteiro

​Dr. Juanita Monteiro is a graduate of the Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed a one-year small animal medicine and surgery internship at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Monteiro has gained extensive medical and surgical experience during her twenty-year tenure in private and corporate veterinary hospitals in Philadelphia and Montgomery counties. In addition to her clinical background, Dr. Monteiro is a published scientific investigator and has a PhD in Immunology from the University of Pennsylvania. She has presented her research on the immune response in vaccine models at both national and international scientific conferences. In 2009, Dr. Monteiro was appointed to the Pennsylvania State Board of Veterinary Medicine by former Gov. Edward Rendell. She enjoys spending time with her children and pets in Harleysville, PA.

Dr. Kelsey Hoag DVM, MSc, CertAqV

Dr. Hoag graduated from Ross University in January 2021 with her DVM and Master of Science by research studying marine protist parasites. She enjoys seeing patients of all species, especially exotic pets. Her undergraduate degree in marine biology was obtained from Texas A&M at Galveston, and she is a member of the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association (WAVMA). Through WAVMA, she is a certified aquatic animal veterinarian and can see fish and invertebrates for a variety of problems. She hopes to increase awareness of the unique husbandry requirements of exotic pets and to promote regular check-ups and preventative health care for all species.

Dr. Prakash Balakrishna

A 2013 graduate from the University of Florida. Started working at Viscaya-Prado in March of 2021. Born and raised in central Florida.

Hobbies – traveling, tennis, boating, scuba diving

Dr. Meghan Finley DVM

Dr. Meghan Finley grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, but has also lived in Florida, the island of St. Kitts, and Texas. She attended Florida Gulf Coast University where she obtained her Chemistry degree with minors in Biology and Music while working as a receptionist/assistant at Angel Animal Hospital and Boarding. Dr. Finley received her DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed her clinical year at Texas A&M University. She received Veterinary Medical acupuncture training from CURACORE integrative medicine and education center. Her professional interests include radiology, ophthalmology, neurology, and integrative medicine. In her free time, Dr. Finley enjoys photography, traveling, reading, and spending time with her friends, family, fiance, and dogs.
